Task #3: Essay Requirements and Samples

For this preparation task, we're going to start looking at the real expectations for an EE. IB has subject-specific guidance for extended essays in ALL DP subjects available on their website. I'm adding that guidance to this webpage as PDF documents. 

What should you do?

Pick THREE of your DP subjects -- particularly subjects that interest you -- and read through the guidance for EE's in that subject.  Take this seriously, as it's the first REAL step we are taking towards choosing an EE subject and developing a topic. 

You should also read through at least one sample essay in the subjects you are interested in. IB has MULTIPLE samples uploaded for every subject, but not all of them are "good." You should read an essay that scored at least 21/34 points to make sure that you're looking at something that represents a high-quality essay. 

PLEASE NOTE: This will take time. But the time you dedicate here pays off with a better sense of what an EE in this subject is, which leads to a more informed decision down the line.
