DP2 - Interim Reflection Session
Through MDID we should have full, institutional access to the most important parts of JSTOR. As long as you are on school wifi, you can read AND download articles without needing to sign up for an account.
Creating an account is useful, though, so it's recommended. JSTOR will also give you accurate citations for your articles in your prefered format (MLA, APA, Chicago.) This is much better than putting things through EasyBib.
You know it. You (probably don't) love it. EBSCO is still a valuable resource for Extended Essay research, depending on your subject.
From the MDID site, this page collects links to the many and varied resources we have access to.
NOTE: You may not have full access to everything you find on Google Scholar. Furthermore, particularly compared to JSTOR, more of the sources here need to be "vetted" or evaluated before you trust them.
For Global Politics, History, and students who are doing a WSEE (esp. one that draws upon Global Politics). You have unlimited access as long as you're on Mingdao Wifi.
Foreign Affairs is a decades-old foreign policy and global events magazine; articles are written by diplomats and other experts, and there is a MASSIVE archive going back to before World War II.
You should have full access on Mingdao Wifi. The NYT is both a daily newspaper for New York City and its surrounding area, as well as the "newspaper of record" with bureaus and offices all over the world. If your research touches on current events in any way, there is likely to be something in the NYT that can help you .
Most useful obviously for History students. MDID has a full subscription to History Today, giving us access to new articles as well as the magazine's deep archive.
While not technically a "journal," articles here are written by professional historians and they are worthy sources for an EE.
Financial Times - Not active just yet (as of May 18, 2023) but we have a paid subscription incoming. Potentially a useful resource for Econ, Business, GloPo, and World Studies essay!
Through the MDHS library, we have access to this great resource for Chinese-language sources (which can be useful for more than just Chinese Lang & Lit essays.)
The MDID Library page (linked at the top) has all of these and more. That page is worth a "bookmark!"
