What went well for the players playing your game?
We did not make it not too hard or too easy, we made it so that they didn’t get annoyed about how hard it was and they didn’t get bored, they had a lot of fun. The players got really excited when they figured something out. Lastly the players were able to escape with a little time remaining which made it funner for them.
What was challenging for the players playing your game?
What was challenging for the players was that they had a little kid with them that they wanted to feel included but she was having a sort of hard time half of the time making it harder for the parents. Another thing that was challenging for our players was that they were stuck on my light puzzle for a little bit because I don’t really know but they did not go to look at what the light was reflecting for a while. Lastly they had a hard time figuring out the last puzzle because it needed to describe what it was asking better.
How well did the players feel your escape room taught them about light waves and sound waves?
I think they learned a lot because we had a lot of good information which was needed to figure out the puzzles. Next they were telling us how good our information was because they learned it in college and once they read our information they relearned a lot of stuff they learned. Lastly during the round robin we asked them what they learned and they went deep into detail about certain parts like how certain waves need a medium and some don’t and stuff like that.
How immersive did the players feel the escape room was? Did the creative artifacts enhance the setting of the room? Why or why not?
I think they noticed everything but it did not really feel like they were on a train. They were more immersed in the puzzles and clues and to be honest it is kind of hard to feel like you are in a certain place without having a lot of things like it or being there or imaging it. Also the puzzle and clues were not connected to the room at all so I think that only brought them farther.
If you were to design an escape room like this again, what would you do differently and why?
I would have added more props and made them better in order to make the player feel like they are more in a certain place and immerse them in the theme. I would have also made the room more interactive because it is more fun to find things than just solve a puzzle to me. I would have made it a little harder to make them struggle a little more to make that victory more sweet.
How well did you work together with your group to complete this exhibition?
Our group worked very well together. I was good friends with everybody in my group making it easier to talk to everybody and collaborate. We all helped each other out to make our stuff better and understand things we didn’t understand. My group worked together rather than apart and gave each other ideas for things like artifacts.
