One more project that we made was this thing called an infographic. An infographic is a thing with five different places to put little sentences. We made one about the Indian school and the school is not nice. I put stuff like the food is not good, really bad discipline like beating them, the Indian will be beaten out of you, and you will be trained for the army.
We do this fun thing called a journal prompts, journal prompts are stories that we get to make but the teacher gives us 2-3 options to do what we made and we have to put certain thing in it like compound sentences or show don’t tell, show don’t tell is where you put an emotion in your story but you don’t say stuff like Bob is cold you would say stuff like Bob is shivering.
Another project that we did was the letter to Cal. We wrote these letters to make Cal feel better about being an Indian and going to an Indian school. He really did not want to go but his dad made him. Don’t be mad at Cal’s dad, he is awesome. Just this book is set in the great depression and Cal’s dad is of course Indian so they are treated unfairly. Cal and his dad lost their home to the bank and Cal's mom is dead. Cal’s mom was not Indian. Cal’s dad is making him go to the Indian school because Cal’s dad worked in the army and is going to get his bonus money.
So we finished our class book which was Two Roads and we did a project about something in the book I did a timeline about Indian boarding schools and my partner was Elliot.
I could add more schools in the timeline. Like it was really hard to find more of the schools on the internet. We could only find 2 schools in all and they were the schools that were made in the very beginning of Indian boarding schools which is 1860.
I can design an app based on my understanding of what I read.
