In this lab we made different plate tectonics movements like how mountains are made or ocean trenches. We used different treats for different crusts. We used rice crispy treats as a crust and gram crackers for a crust too. Also we used frosting as lava and other things and we used chocolate chips for mountains or volcanoes.

We learned how these were made like the mountains or ocean trenches. When an ocean crust and a continental crust come together and the continental crust goes under it creates an ocean trench, This movement is called a Convergent Boundary. Also when 2 plates are close together and they go away from each other, lava rises up from underneath, this movement is called a Divergent Boundary. When one lithosphere and another lithosphere rub against each other it makes earthquakes, this movement is called a Transform Plate Boundary.

Another project that we did was the starburst lab. In this lab we took starburst to represent rocks. Certain rocks, metamorphic rocks, sedimentary rocks, and igneous rocks. We showed how all these rocks are made by using an iron, hot water, scissors, and our hands to show the cycle of these rocks.

Sedimentary rocks form from when little pieces of rocks called sediment are pressed together to make sedimentary rocks. Igneous rocks form when rocks melt into magma and then harden to make igneous rocks.Metamorphic rocks form from intense heat and pressure that makes  metamorphic rocks.

Here we researched the Grand Canyon and what type of rocks were there. Also we researched how old the rocks are like the rock layers and if there were any fossils.
