Homeroom: Mrs. Evans
Hello my name is Grady and thank you for coming to my 6th grade TPOL. Today I am going to be talking about how I have grown as a learner. Outside of school I like other things. Basketball, skiing, biking, dirt biking, and Onewheeling.
The 6th grade lens is Confidence. At the beginning of the year, Confidence meant to feel secure. Being secure means that you know what you like, you don't have to have certain clothes on or certain shoes on. At the beginning of the year, I demonstrated this lens by showing that I don't need certain stuff to be cool. All I need is to be nice and respectful.By the end of this year, I would like to be able to say that I have grown throughout this school year.
I think that my confidence will change over the year by doing many, many exhibitions because by doing presentations you become more confident in presenting and talking and connecting to others.
Inspiring Community Member: As you can see a lovely, amazing and caring person is in the building. That person being Mrs Sheri. I have invited you because I have always looked up to you. You are always nice and amazing to everyone around you and always have a smile on your face. You have never doubted me and always give me advice. Most other teachers have different spots to grow in, but I can't think of one thing that you can do better. So thank you for being here and listening to my presentation!
Ownership: My goal for ownership Is standing up for what I have done and if I did something wrong I will take ownership for it. At the beginning of the year, I demonstrated ownership by acknowledging things that are my fault. I always try my hardest to listen in class even when some people are distracting. For example when I was working on my TPOL I asked the teacher if I could go to the hall. Turns out I got 2x the work done than I normally would. I even get better test scores when I am alone and in a quiet room. I understood ownership to mean taking responsibility for your own work.
By the end of this year, I would like to continue to get better at taking ownership.
Helpfulness: I show helpfulness by knowing my part, so that the teacher doesn't have to. At the beginning of the year, I demonstrated helpfulness by being respectful to the teacher. What this does is relieves all of the pressure from the day and puts less responsibility on the teachers part. My understanding of helpfulness now that it is the end of the school year is to not just help other people, but also help myself. I can do this by seeing what I need to get done and tell myself that I can do it. By the end of this year I would like to get better at helping myself. Even though I have done this already in many ways I always like to keep improving. I can be helpful and express my thoughts to others and control my feelings.
