This year’s National Day theme “Stronger Together, Majulah!” is a call for all Singaporeans to forge ahead as a united and strong people towards a better future. “Stronger Together” reminds Singaporeans that unity in our diversity is what makes us stronger. Communities, families and friends coming together form the bedrock of our nation’s strength and resilience and enable us to overcome challenges. “Majulah”, which means “onward”, encapsulates our hopes and spirit as a nation since our independence 57 years ago, and is a rallying call for Singaporeans to strive for a better future, and grow from strength to strength as we emerge from COVID-19.
For the first time since the pandemic began, the school was out in full force. Once again, the parade square reverberated with the school band playing our National Anthem live with much pomp and circumstance even as our CCA representatives from the Uniformed Group marched in with the State flag. The National Day Celebrations Observance Ceremony with emcees from drama Club featured members of the Uniformed Groups dressed smartly in their respective uniforms. This was followed by the Recollections done by our very own Secondary Two CCA leaders.
We had a hybrid ceremony as the first part of the ceremony was streamed live to the students in their classrooms. Mrs Mabel Leong, our Principal then read out the Minister of Education’s National Day Message to the school. This was followed by Guzheng and Taekwondo performances on video. This was followed by a dance performance video for a whole school Mass Dance, led by some Dance CCA students in their respective classes.
One of the highlights was the National Day video clip “Same Time, Same Place” shown to the classes. This is special because it was shot in our very own Springfield Secondary, and a few of our CCA leaders were included in the cast.
The day ended with the students sharing their hopes and aspirations for the nation, and also making a commitment on how they can contribute to a Singapore that they have envisioned on the SG Community Pledge Wall #Pledge SG.
Happy Birthday, Singapore!
