When I first stepped into the band, I was afraid because, firstly, I did not have any musical background and, secondly, everyone looked very intimidating. However, as time went on, I became very comfortable socialising and felt the feeling of excitement coming to school especially on Mondays and Wednesdays. I knew I would see smiling faces and friends waving, every time I walked into the band room.
I played the flute and honestly, I really struggled with it. I wanted to play the instrument perfectly and failed multiple times. Eventually, the notion of giving up festered inside of me. Soon enough, my conductor - Mrs Chee and my senior found out my negative emotions reassured me patiently. My seniors taught me how to play the Flute and the piece of music that we had to play properly. Through their guidance, I am more confident now than before. I am thankful for Mrs Chee, teachers, and the Band members. Without them, my Band experience would not be this exciting and enjoyable, despite all the challenges and hardships that we go through, such as the long hours and months of training for SYF and School performances and the day itself.
Personally, Band is not just a bunch of students gathering every Monday and Wednesday for CCA, but a family. We are a family.

As a member of the SFSS Dance Club, I have learned that the key to success is to constantly practise and push beyond my limit in order to improve and present my best performance.
This year the Dance Club practised rigorously to prepare for our two stage performances - one in school for the SFSS Pearl 30th anniversary concert and the other at Our Tampines Hub (OTH), where we participated in an Open Stage Competition. We had a fulfilling experience performing on the stage at OTH and watching all the other schools perform at OTH inspired us and made us more than determined to work harder.
Ultimately, what is key, is for us to engage our audience by becoming amazing dancers. We want to give our best to work together as a team to dance diligently and strive for excellence in our performances.

At the start of the year, it was hard to cope with the expectations and challenges but as we go through it day by day, we made tremendous improvements be it in acting or as a backstage crew. We had the opportunity to embark on a competition where we had to film videos and performed over Zoom. That allowed us to use filming equipment like the green screen and huge stands! We were able to show the younger ones what we are made of as the idea of Drama is no longer limited to live acting. We even did our school VIA project by packing little gift packs to the bus driver as a sign of appreciation to them for driving us, students, every day to school. How can we forget? Our teachers in charge of drama working hard to provide us with a fun and enjoyable CCA while developing us to have good attitude and respect. During our school's 30th Pearl Anniversary concert, we had the opportunity to perform. It has helped us to develop different drama skills and boosted our confidence. I can say that through all the difficult challenges we have faced this year, I know that my Drama members and I have put in our best effort.

In Guzheng, we believe that "Success is no accident. It is hard work, perseverance, learning, studying, sacrifice and most of all, love of what you are doing or learning to do." In Springfield Guzheng Ensemble, our members are helpful, caring and always looking out for one another. With the gradual improvement of the pandemic this year, we had performances in and out of school like Chinese New Year performance and at Our Tampines Hub (OTH), which has tempered our courage even more to go on stage and also instilled in us the joy of Guzheng.
