The Painted Jezebel (Delias hyparete metarete) is a common, brightly colored butterfly found throughout Singapore in urban areas, parks, and nature reserves, known for its white wings with black-dusted veins and striking yellow/red underside.
At Westwood Gardens, the butterfly was found on the flowers of the Indian Snakeweed (Stachytarpheta Indica) plant on 12 Dec 2025.
The butterfly has been sighted for several years at Westwood Gardens but it has always evaded efforts in photographing it, until Dec 2025.
