This is a leathery-winged butterfly common in grasslands. It has a weak fluttery flight. It is however avoided by most insect predators. The male is deep orange while the female is pale tawny yellow. Both wings have black markings as per the underside. The antennae are black. Its favourite host plant for its caterpilalrs is Passiflora foetida.
