This Blue-winged Pitta was discovered within the school grounds on 26 Oct 2022. It was a surprise visitor indeed.
The adult had a blackish head with buff crown-sides, a black eye stripe, white throat with a small blackish chin patch just below the bill, green upperparts, violet-blue upperwing coverts and plain buff underparts with red vent.
We found out from NParks that the bird is a migratory bird which could have stopped over momentarily.
The NParks officer turned up swiftly to rescue the bird. We hope that the bird will get to its intended destination.
