The white-collared kingfisher is also known as a mangrove kingfisher. It can be distinguished by its aquamarine to turquoise-coloured upper parts and head, black bill and feet and white breast and belly. Besides fish, it also feeds on insects, worms and crabs.It usually hunts from a perch such as a fence, wire or low tree branch over an open space, and is commonly spotted in coastal areas, gardens and parks.
