Official transcripts from all colleges and universities that you attended will be required as part of the admissions process. Each transcript is closely evaluated, and individual courses are matched to MLC courses whenever applicable. Your official transcripts will be reviewed once you have completed the application process for the APPLE - Elementary Education program and have been accepted into the program.
There are a few guiding rules we use when reviewing courses:
The course must be applicable to MLC degree requirements.
The course must be at least two-thirds similar in material and concepts to a comparable MLC course.
The course must have been completed with a letter grade of at least a C (or its equivalent).
Licensure courses (those classes that include competencies specific to the Minnesota Tier 3 Elementary Education Teaching License) must be reviewed by the Licensure Office to ensure equivalent coverage of required content and timeliness of methodology and scholarship.
You can review Transfer Equivalency, a list of courses we have evaluated from other colleges and universities and matched to MLC courses, to see if the classes you have completed are already recognized by MLC. We are regularly reviewing and adding courses to the list.
Questions regarding the transcript review process for learners interested in or enrolled in APPLE - Elementary Education should be directed to the Director of Nontraditional Education.
Appeals regarding a transcript review can be initiated using the Transcript Review Appeal form. For each transcript review appeal, the learner is asked to provide the institution and course information for MLC to begin its review. The learner may be asked to provide the syllabus for the course completed at another institution. Upon receipt of an appeal, the Director of Nontraditional Education initiates the internal Transcript Review Appeals process. The Director of Nontraditional Education guides the Transcript Review Appeal through a review with the Licensure Officer, Dean of Education, and VP of Academics. The Transcript Review Appeal will be acknowledged, along with any request for additional information, within ten business days of submission. The final decision will be made and sent to the learner through their MLC-provided Gmail account within 25 business days of receipt.
