Competency-Based Education Courses at MLC are offered in a set sequence during the fall, spring, and summer trimesters.

Term A

September 1 - December 20

New learners are encouraged to complete the orientation by the start of the term.

Learners may change their enrollment status from FT to PT or drop classes with approval from their faculty mentor in the first ten days of the term (September 1 - September 10). All withdrawals after the ten-day mark will result in tuition charges.

Term B

January 5 - April 25

New learners are encouraged to complete the orientation by the start of the term.

Learners may change their enrollment status from FT to PT or drop classes with approval from their faculty mentor in the first ten days of the term (January 5 - January 15). All withdrawals after the ten-day mark will result in tuition charges.

Term C

May 1 - August 20

New learners are encouraged to complete the orientation by the start of the term.

Learners may change their enrollment status from FT to PT or drop classes with approval from their faculty mentor in the first ten days of the term (May 1 - May 10). All withdrawals after the ten-day mark will result in tuition charges.

Important Schedule Guidance

CBTE Minor (THE 1001, THE 1002, THE 2001, THE 3001, THE 3002, and THE 4001) courses run as 15-week courses with weekly activities and assignments.
All other courses are flexibly paced, allowing learners to work through content and take advantage of review sessions as they are able. Pacing guidelines are included in each course to help learners keep on track toward their academic goals.
Learners will be actively engaged in no more than three classes at a time.
All planned coursework must be completed by the last day of the term. Courses that are incomplete or have not been started will be marked as Incomplete and must be completed before new classes are added to a learner's schedule or a learner is assigned to their student teaching term.

Term A September 1 - December 20, 2025

June 15, 2025 - Application Deadline for learners starting in 202526 Term A.

August 1, 2025 - Admissions Deposit Deadline to confirm the intention to participate in the program for learners starting in 202526 Term A.

August 10, 2025 - Financial Services Payment Plan confirmed, and first payment received for 202526 Term A.

August 15, 2025 - Orientation to our online learning environment, Brightspace, opens for learners starting in 202526 Term A. Orientation must be completed by September 1, 2025.

October 20, 2025 - Mid-term mark. Any Incomplete grades from the previous term must be resolved.

October 26, 2025 - Last day to withdraw from a course and receive a pro-rated refund.

December 20, 2025 - Last day to complete assignments due for courses attempted in the term.

Term B January 5 - April 25, 2026

Term C May 1 - August 20, 2026

March 15, 2026 - Application Deadline for learners starting in 202526 Term C.
