APPLE is designed as an online learning experience. While learners will complete some content and activities independently, there are opportunities for learning with others during synchronous sessions in all classes.
Learners should be comfortable using computers and digital technologies to access all content and complete all activities and assessments. Learners must have access to a laptop or desktop computer. Mobile devices may be used to access and review lesson videos and readings, but such devices are not recommended for the creation or completion of final assessments.
MLC uses Google and its suite of products to support learning.
MLC will provide a Google Account that includes access to Gmail, Google Drive, Google Docs, and Google Slides.
All learners will receive an email with directions to set up their Gmail and Google Workspace before the start of their first term.
All communication will be sent to the learner's MLC email account once they officially begin their first term of study.
The Alternate Pathway to Professional Licensure Eligibility (APPLE) Elementary Education program leverages Brightspace by D2L as our learning platform.
It is advised that learners access all major assessments using a laptop, but content pages can be accessed using the Brightspace Pulse app on a tablet or phone.
Please use D2L’s System Check tool to ensure that you have access to a laptop or desktop computer that meets the minimum requirements for this learning platform. Simply access the link from the device that you wish to check. The web page will verify that:

It will also be helpful to set your browser to allow cookies in Brightspace. If you have an ad blocker or pop-up blocker, you may need to make an exception for Brightspace in order to engage with all of the content, activities, and assessments shared through the learning platform.
