No Manager is complete without having compassion for society and no Management is effective without feelings for people. MITE-MBA believes that future managers must be exposed to the finer side of humanity so that they grow up into compassionate and effective managers. Student volunteers join together and come under a single Umbrella of 'CSR Club' and reach out to the down-trodden and the suffering of the society. Club members collect donations, visit orphanages/special schools/old-age homes, help them and spend quality time with the inmates.
2023-24
The CSR club of the department organised a clothes and food supplies donation programme for Suraksha Charitable Trust, Karkala. This initiative aimed to support the underprivileged community by providing essential items and fostering a spirit of social responsibility among students. Volunteers interacted with people over there and had a great time in understanding different aspect of life.
The CSR Club of MBA Department, MITE organised a talk on “Secret of Success” by Mr. Prashanth Pai from Art of Living. The secret to success in college is remembering that the idea of success is relative. He suggested students to maintain health, fitness through various workouts like yoga, meditation, jogging, walking, etc. He appealed students to measure success in terms of contentment in life rather than money, power, luxury, etc.
2022-23
Mangalore Institute of Technology and Engineering College, MBA Department under the CSR club successfully organized a program on 21st January 2023 for a visit to the Ahimsa animal care trust at Bajagoli. The program was conducted to educate aspiring students about the different needs of animals and to encourage the students to animal adoption. There were 18 students who attended this program. We left at 1:45 pm from the college campus and reached Ahimsa animal care trust at 2:45 pm.
The owner, Virendra Jain escorted all the gatherings. The students were taken to the introduction room and given a briefing of rules and guidelines to be followed by everyone inside the Animal care trust. The students contributed some food items to the animal care trust to feed the animals. The students were also allowed to personally interact with the animals and feed them. The students spent time with the animals with love and care. In the end, some of the students were interested in adopting the animal. The program taught the students how important it is to encourage people to animal adoption from dedicated care centers.
2021-22
The CSR club of MBA department MITE, organised a visit to Spoorthi special school, Moodabidri on 4th of August, 2022. The HR students of the MBA department volunteered to be a part of this event.
The program commenced with the welcoming of the audience by one of the volunteers and about 60 children were a part of this event. The volunteers conducted several games and activities to interact with the children and gifts were also distributed, which made them happy. At the end of the session, the journey of Spoorthi Special school was displayed and also they showcased the talents of the kids through a small video. The Principal of the school appreciated the volunteers for their visit and encouraged them to do it more often.
The program was then concluded by one of the volunteers with a thank you note to everyone present there.
Overall, the session was not merely a visit but an enlightenment as to understand the ways of life and be happy with what we possess. The children were a great example of energy, talent and pure love.
The CSR club of MBA department, MITE organised a session on Computer Skills to the students of a government school in one of the parts of Moodabidri city with the intention of exploring them to the more basic and also sophisticated spectrum of such technology,
The students were divided among the group of 4 and each group was assigned one volunteer and a laptop to assist them. The session consisted of different sections and it began with the basic functions and keys of the computer and moved on to the Microsoft office- Word, Powerpoint and Excel. The students were smart and excited to learn something new.
Activities and games were conducted to energize the group and gifts were also distributed which delighted them.Overall the session was wonderful to see how smart and enthusiastic the kids were and it delighted the volunteers to be a part of such an event.
The CSR Club of the MBA department is committed to being socially accountable by striving to build a better world. This club has organized an event on 5th January 2022 at “ Manasa Rehabilitation & Training Centre”. This centre consists of students with special needs. The CSR members visited these students, interacted and had some special moments to cherishAlan, Puneeth, Dhanya, Nandan were the organizers of this program and the technical support was provided by the other HR club members – Ratan and Dhanush.The members conducted various games and spent quality time with the children. The members of the CSR club shared their experiences and built confidence among the special children. In addition to this, surprise gifts for all special children were distributed by Santa Claus Abhishek Nayak recalling Christmas and the occasion of the New year season. The session came to an end with some lively music, food and the members interacted with the teachers about the centre and constant interactions in the future. 2020-21
The visit to animal care trust Shakthinagar was organized by CSR club on 7th of September 2021. Five students of 1st year MBA with the guidance of lecturers visited the Animal Care trust. The main purpose of the visit was to donate a sum of Rs.4430/- that was collected from students and faculty members of MBA department. It was a good exposure as student members of CSR Club got an opportunity to learn about the trust and its activities.
A volunteer from the trust showed the team around and she explained how they take care of the animals. The volunteers of the trust are very fond of the animals and treat them as their own. They take utmost care of hygiene and safety of these animals. The trust conducts several camps to find homes for stray animals.
As a part of sensitizing students about the problems of Child labour a guest session was organized by the CSR Club on the topic.
The guest speaker was Prof Surjith Ram, who is a lawyer by qualification and is a Professor at the Department of Humanities at MITE.
In his talk, Prof Surith Ram highlighted the problems of Child labour and how it affects the society. He further explained the Child labour Law and legal framework under which the government operates to eradicate this evil practice.
The session ended with a lively Q&A session
Animals are as much a part of this planet as human beings and they possess as much right to fair and just treatment as human beings on this planet. In order to sensitize our students to the cause of Animal rights a special lecture is organised by the CSR Club of MITE MBA.
Ms. Suma Nayak is the guest speaker on the occasion. Ms. Suma Nayak is a lawyer by profession and an Animal activist. She runs an organization called Animal Care Trust (ACT) at Mangalore which takes care of stray animals and gives them shelter. ACT has an animal care centre at Kulshekhar, Mangalore and they have a big team of volunteers to rescue and nurture street animals.
In her speech Ms. Nayak highlighted the importance of fair treatment to animals and how it is important for the young generation to inculcate such values in life. She also introduced ACT through a slide show and explained the objectives and activities of the organization. She further motivated the students to come forward and be volunteers for the cause of Animal care.
An online panel discussion on 'Mental health' was organised by CSR club members. All the student Panelists presented their views on how a person can keep himself mentally fit and overcome depression. The discussion was mainly focused on youth and their mental health. At the end, there were queries from viewers which were addressed by panel members.
Students of MITE MBA under the umbrella of CSR Club, and ECO Club took to streets on to proytest against crime against women when the most unfortunate Nirbhaya case happened. They enacted a street play to high light and condemn the ill-treatment given to women and tried to spread message of fair and equal treatment to women. CSR Club members visited 'Manasa', a special school that takes care of nearly 60 special children. To make their day a memorable one, members of the club organised various activities such as musical chair, bombing the city, etc. It was an unforgettable day for the inmates of the school and for the members of CSR Club.
Keeping in mind the motto of spreading happiness and love to the needy, CSR Club members visited 'Snehadeep' in Mangalore, an orphanage that takes care of HIV-positive children. The Club members conducted various games for the children and taught them a few dance steps. The compassion showered by the club members was well appreciated by the children as well as by the management of the orphanage.
CSR club members organised a day out with special kids of 'Spoorthi'. Club members organised various activities to the children and spent a day with them. Members of the club performed some entertainment programmes for the children and those children too danced and enjoyed a lot.
CSR Club, in association with Government Hospital Moodabidri organised an awareness programme on Dengue at Government School, Gandhinagar in Moodabidri. Dr. Shahshikala was the resource person. The programme was organised for the children and their parents. More than 100 people from the village attended this program and got benefitted. Professors Ajith DMello and Abhaya Kumar from MITE were present.
The theme of Sadbhavana Divas is to promote National Integration and communal harmony among people of all religions and languages. Keeping in view the need for Sadbhavana among youth, CSR club observed the day. Prof Jayadeva Prasad, HOD of the department administered the Sadbhavana oath.
The Sadbhavana day pledge was as follows: “I take this solemn pledge that I will work for the emotional oneness and harmony of all the people of India regardless of caste, region, religion, or language. I further pledge that I shall resolve all differences among us through dialogue and constitutional means without resorting to violence”
CSR Club members of MBA participated in the state-level short movie contest organized by the Rotary Club of Brahmavar (Zone 3, RI District 3182) in the month of October 2018. An Eight-minute video on Road Safety was prepared by the club members. The video was ranked as one among the top 12 videos out of 113 entries from the state of Karnataka.
The video gives a good message on Road Safety to the audience. It was made on the themes “Wear Helmet and Drive”, “Say No to Drink and Drive” and “Leave Early Reach Safely”. The video was very much appreciated by the Jury.

CSR Club membersfrom MITE MBA celebrated Deepavali-2018 with the specially-abled children from VijethaSchool,Karkala in a unique way. Vijethaschool is a well-known school that takes care of specially-abled children and works towards making them independent. The school inmates prepare crafts and candles and sell them in and around Karkala.
CSR Club members did an effective campaign to market their candles and motivated MBA students and others to purchase them. The club members could give an order for 113 candle packets to the Vijetha School. The club members visited the school on 5th November, 2018 along with Mr.AjithD’mello, CSR Club Coordinator and a Faculty member Mr. Abhay Kumar. Club members conducted various activities for the children and brought happiness and smile on the faces of school inmates.
On 20th February, 2019 Mr. Sourabh R. Chiploonkar, a Faculty member of MITE and a Black Belt holder in Karate conducted a program on Self Defense for the female students of II-year MBA in order to encourage them to pursue and practice Karate and Yoga. The resource person said that practicing Karate helps one to increase their endurance by strengthening the body and also helps to keep a positive and focused mind set.
The Management Students of MITE with the guidance of Prof. Jayadeva Prasad M and Ms. Verina D’Souza organized a special event on 12th January 2019 with a view to educate the students and parents of Ajekar village. Students performed a skit depicting how higher education helps in attaining a prosperous career and about the various factors that influence one’s career. Prof. Jayadeva Prasad M, HOD, addressed the gathering and said, Higher education helps an individual in enhancing his career opportunities which creates a better society and helps in building a new Nation; Therefore, parents should encourage their children to attain higher education and become successful leaders.
A Guest Lecture on Value system was organized on 16th April, 2019 for the students of MBA. Swami SanandanaDasa, General Secretary of ISKCON, Mangaluru spoke about Focus on the Value system. He said that focus would help everybody to hold their attention on one's goals for any desired length of time. He also conducted an activity that involved the participation of students. The activity depicted how the younger generation focusses on the past and the future, forgetting to live in the present. He concluded the session with the message of actively involving ourselves in creating our future and make ourselves lively and enthusiastic.
A session on 'Self Defence for Women' was conducted to bring in a sense of awareness among women and help them counter challenging situations in life. All students and faculty members of the MBA Department were part of this interesting event.
The guest for this program was Mr. Harish Kumar, who has 16 years of experience in this field. He has won the 3rdPlace at International Karate Championship and has won more than 90 medals.
He gave everyone a brief insight as to how one has to remain calm and handle tough situations with confidence this was followed by his demonstrations on various techniques like the front kick technique, punch and kick, slap kick technique, straight kick and punch, swing technique, weak spots attack technique, crunches and side sit-ups.
Further, students were given an opportunity to try few of the techniques and the students volunteered to do so. It also involved student interaction followed by a Q&A session for clarification ofthe students’ doubts. In the end, Mr. Harish Kumar shared his experiences and achievements and urged students to take a stand whenever necessary and always remain confident to counter tough situations.
A talk on 'Gender Equity' was conducted by the CSR club to enlighten the MBA students about the role and significance of gender equity in institutions and society. Many students and faculty members of MITE were part of this event. The guest for this program was Ms. Sarita Santosh, Founder of Sunshine Travels,Manipal. She is also the President and Founder Member of Power, a platform for women entrepreneurs and has attended a National Summit for women entrepreneurs in Mumbai in 2009. She has judged various events for Manipal University and has also attended various national and international level travel conferences in India and overseas. She has been recognized with awards by different institutes at different levels and has recently won the Best Women Entrepreneur Award at the Spandana Business Excellence Award Ceremony, 2016. She gave everyone a brief insight as to how gender equity plays an important role in society and is a means of giving fair treatment for women and men according to their respective needs. One of the key points of her talk was that gender equity reduces unjust and avoidable inequality between men and women in status, access to services and their contribution to workforce and that women need to be financially independent. Also, she emphasized how the attitude with which we work is very important in life – we must always work like a leader in an organization. She also inspired us to try to learn and work hard towards our goals, be ready to embrace change and take life one step at a time.
CSR Club of MITE-MBA conducted Breast Cancer Awareness program on 22.2.2018 for the benefit of the Lady members of MITE.
Dr. Sandhya I. is an Assistant Professor in Dept. of Pathology at A. J. Institute of Medical Sciences &Research Centre, Mangalore. was the guest speaker.
Ms. Savitha from the Department of Basic Sciences escorted the guest to the dais. Prof. Jaya Shetty of MBA introduced the guest to the gathering. Dr. Sandhya spoke about cancer in general at first and then spread awareness regarding breast cancer, its causes, detection and its various treatments. She emphasized that cancer can be avoided through right food habits, healthy lifestyle and regular exercise and one needs to get the screening done on a regular basis if they have had any cases of breast cancer in their maternal family. She also spoke about the symptoms of breast cancer and the different types of screening methods such as Self-Examination, Mammography, Fine Needle Aspiration, BIOPSY and BRCA Mutational Analysis. At the end, she answered all of the queries from the students and the faculties. The event ended with the vote of thanks by Prof. Jaya Shetty.
We take birth as “human beings”, but “being human” is what the need of the hour is. The department of MBA under the banner of CSR club always works for the people who are in need.
On 30th of June, 2018 the department organized a visit to Infant Mary’s Orphanage in Kulshekar, Mangalore. 15 members of CSR club along with HOD Prof. Jayadeva Prasad M and Prof Ajith D’Mello Coordinator of the CSR Club visited the place. A total of 51 children were there in the house. The students of the club have organized a few games for the children. CSR club members interacted with the children. The children showcased their talents. A few of them performed dance and sang songs.
For this noble cause the CSR club raised corpus of Rs.10, 388/- ( Rupees Ten Thousand Three Hundred & Eighty Eight Only ) from department of MBA, College and the Second year students. Faculty members also contributed to this cause. At the end the inmates’ children and the caretaker of the house thanked the CSR members
