On 30th March 2024, Career guidance club of Dept. of Management Studies of MITE organised a guest talk. The topic was Career guidance in Marketing. Around 140 students of I year MBA attended the session and benefitted from it. Mr. Abhijith Karkera explained how career in Marketing and sales is highly dynamic and challenging. In the fast paced world, he said, Marketing professionals need to be agile, constantly learning and developing.
On 22nd February 2024, Dr. Laxmish Rai delivered a talk to II year MBA HR students about career opportunities in Industrial Relations. He said that industrial relations students with human resources play a crucial role in managing employee relations negotiating collective agreements and ensuring compliance with the labour laws. Questions about the Industrial Dispute act were clarified by the speaker towards the end of the talk.
On 5th January 2024, Dr. Pradeep M D delivered a guest talk to the final year MBA students about building self-esteem. Around 120 students of II MBA department were benefitted from the talk. He discussed on how training in student life can lay the foundation for a successful career. How a correct decision in careers can result in career enrichment. Towards the end of the talk, students clarified many queries with the speaker.
On April 5, 2023, the Career Guidance Cell organized an informative talk on the topic of "Career Opportunities in Investment Banking." The session was led by Dr. K. Abhaya Kumar, a Senior Assistant Professor in the Department of Management Studies at Mangalore Institute of Technology & Engineering. Dr. Abhaya Kumar commenced the talk by introducing the basics of Investment Banking and enlightening students about its functions, which encompass Mergers and Acquisitions, Corporate Financing, Underwriting, Equity and Fixed Income Research, as well as Sales and Trading.

He highlighted that effective marketing and sales strategies are essential for bringing products and services to consumers, generating interest, creating desire, and ultimately driving purchase decisions. Students listened with lot of interest.

Mr. Abhijith Karkera brought over a decade of valuable experience in Sales and Marketing to the discussion. He spoke about the power of a Brand and its impact on the sales of a particular brand. He shared that Coca-Cola is one of the most recognized brands worldwide, emphasizing the significance of branding in the FMCG sector. He also spoke about the effectiveness of systems in selling, forecasting, and reporting within the FMCG industry, particularly at Coca-Cola.
The Career Guidance Cell places a lot of importance in shaping the career of the students. It organized a talk on the topic of "Career Opportunities in B2B Marketing Management." The session featured Prof. Venkatesh Amin, Director of MDP at Srinivasa University and former Area Manager at Castrol India Ltd, as the esteemed resource person. Prof. Venkatesh Amin highlighted the immense demand for products in India due to its large population. He underscored the significance of this market demand in the context of B2B marketing. Prof. Venkatesh emphasized the importance of organizations both "skilling up" and "scaling up" for success. Students made use of the opportunity available by asking pertinent questions and learning from the vast corporate experience of the speaker.
The Career Guidance Cell organised a talk on the future of financial planning and wealth management. Mr. Saha Discussed the checklist for choosing the right course for higher education. He also discussed the certified financial planning course and its career opportunities. He said that all courses should have approval from the regulators. It is also essential that the concept and application of the course have to be global, investment for the course has to be justified by the return. Mr. Saha said that there is a huge demand for Certified Financial Planners who can manage the wealth of High net-worth Individuals.

Marketing club of MITE-MBA organised a webinar on "Practical approach to sales process" Students learnt the practical application of the sales process in the Industry and selling models globally followed in multinational organizations. Students interacted with the speakers and clarified their doubts. They spoke about the major cultural differences in the selling styles in India and the Middle East. They enquired about the career prospects for a sales professional.

A Management Game was conducted for MBA students on 1st September, 2018 by Mr. Ajith D’Mello, Faculty member of MBA department. The game involved three characters from the famous movie “Bahubali” namely, Katappa, Bahubali and Devsena. Students had to create a different story involving these three characters and come up with the answer why Katappakilled Bahubali?! After all the groups finished their presentation, winner was announced. This management gamed helped students to enhance creative thinking and develop strategic choices.
A Management Game was conducted for MBA students on 22nd September, 2018. Mr. Ajith D’Mello divided the students of II MBA into 4 groups and briefed them about the XY game and its rules. Four group leaders were chosen for eachof the groups. Each group had to choose either X or Y in every round and based on the predetermined XY combination, scores were given to the groups. The group having highest score at the end of the game was announced to be the winner. The game highlighted the learning that the team that showcased team spirit and worked for each other’s benefit emerged as the winners.
A Guest Lecture on Motivation was organized for MBA students on 29th August, 2018. Mr. Naga Prasad, a distinguished motivational speaker, gave examples of successful people in various areas and then explained the difficulties they had been through to achieve such success. He also mentioned that success can be achieved through hard work. He also added that our goals should not get distracted by negative thoughts and one must be highly focused towards what they want to achieve. Story of his real-life motivated students and made everyone to realize that one should not give up under any adverse situation and it also inspired them to take problem as a challenge and work on it to achieve the set goal.
On 12th April, 2019 a Guest lecture on Managerial competency was conducted for the students of MBA. Mr. Shantharam Hegdekatte, Director and Trustee of Learning Links Foundation, New Delhi said that younger generation has lost curiosity in enhancing their knowledge and has developed a stereotype notion about scoring marks and getting employed. He also said that education system should improve the ability and talent of the students and make education a learning experience instead of creating pressure to be the best in academics.
On 5th March, 2019 Alumni interaction was organized for the students of I and II-year MBA. Mr. Farhan Farooqui, Alumnus, 2014 Batch who has lot of insights into healthcare industry enthusiastically discussed the challenges and opportunities in it. Various issues like Automation, impact of Artificial Intelligence and Personality Development were discussed in detail. He shared his experiences gained in Omega Hospital and said that all of us should update ourselves to compete in this competitive world and participation in extra-curricular activities would help the students to develop the necessary attitudes and skills. He further added that in order to enhance our confidence, we must make use of every opportunity and must be willing to take up challenges which will lead to new learning experiences. He stressed on serving in one organization for a minimum of 3 to 4 years to get real learning and corporate exposure.
Program 2: Industry Expectations and Opportunities in Beverage Industry
On June 2nd, 2018, Marketing Club of the Department of MBA organised a career guidance lecture. The guest speaker, Mr. G.L. Srivatsa stressed upon the ways in which students can grab job opportunities available in various functions of an organization such as Marketing, Finance, Research & Development, Human Resources, and Sales. He urged the students to improve upon their communication and technical skills which are expected in the industry and mentioned that there is an ocean of opportunities available to students in the job market which can be grabbed only by meeting their expectations.
The MBA Dept. conducted a program on Women Entrepreneurship on Dec. 16th, 2017 for the MITE students. The resource person, Ms. Rubina Banu, is a successful entrepreneur. In her talk, Ms. Rubina emphasized that the definition of success has changed over a period of time and stressed that the youth must limit the usage of social media, if it is to attain success in this competitive world. She said that if the dream budget is small, failure becomes a lesson whereas if the dream budget is big, failure instead becomes a message. She also said that the true measure of success is not luxury, but rather peace of mind. She encouraged the youth to not give up on their challenging nature and have the courage to start from zero.
