Marshall led us through an interactive circle time to demonstrate all of the CEM strategies that can be used in one routine of the day.
It started with Routines within Routines within Routines and Zoning to create consistency and predictability for adults and children. Active participation during circle time included visuals, props, songs, and movement. The team embedded goals from all learning domains and added individual supports such as fidgets, an extra copy of the book, and differentiated seating to support all children's engagement in learning.

- What strategies do we currently use to increase engagement during large group time?
- What new ideas did Marshall present that you want to try?
- Which children might benefit from more active participation opportunities?
- How do we currently choose which goals to embed into large group time? Do we have the right goals embedded?
- How do we currently decide which activities to include in large group time? Does each activity have a clear purpose?
- What would you need to teach all children so they understand why you provide different supports for different children?
- How do you (or could you) teach children to accept peers who need different things?
