Planning to support active participation is one important way we increase engagement for all children. Children are more likely to be engaged and actively participating when they have:
a place to look
a way to verbally participate
an opportunity for movement
times to verbally respond while moving
We are creating a kit with ideas, materials and props that you may want to use during teacher-directed time, child-directed routines and transitions.
As you get started with the kit, here are a few things to consider:
How will you teach children the expectations for using props or materials?
What goals can you embed into routines using props or materials?
How will you individualize for children who need something different?
How can peers support each other's engagement and learning?
Support individual child engagement using Hungry Caterpillar props.
Increase active participation during book time with Goodnight Moon materials.
Teach friendship skills and support engagement with dinosaur books and props.

Now that you have your CEM Classroom Kit, you can begin to brainstorm the many ways you might use these visual, props and materials to increase engagement. As you unpack your kit, you might find these short videos helpful to get you started! Each video highlights an aspect of the kit, sharing examples for increasing engagement during large group, small group or transitions. You will also hear ideas for individual children and for increasing peer interactions.

Kits can be individualized based on your program's needs.
One complete kit will cost between $350-400.
