This Classroom Engagement Model Share Site will not be maintained after June 30, 2025 due to the 'retirement' of MNCoE.
This CEM Checklist webinar is a recording of a live, virtual training completed in November 2024. The video description includes timestamps for when certain parts of the CEM Checklist are discussed. The entire video, including pauses, is just over 4 hours.

The CEM Checklist is designed to collect information about early childhood educators' use of the Classroom Engagement Model practices. It is intended to assist coaches in determining what strategies are being implemented within a classroom and where additional training or supports are needed. It is also intended to inform Program Implemmentation Teams about a classroom's progress toward implementing with fidelity.
After completing a CEM Checklist, the next step is to share feedback and reflect on the observation. Providing a written summary is valuable and provides the coachee team with targeted feedback around strengths and possible action plan items.
Click on the box to the left to access a "short" or "long" debrief template. As you consider which template might work best for each coachee team, consider the following:
Is this a new or veteran coachee team?
What level of written feedback do you believe best suits this coachee team?
What additional information do you believe would be valuable to add to either template?
You have completed the CEM checklist, filled out a debrief form. and now you are ready for your meeting with your coachee.
This video example is meant to give you an idea of what a debrief meeting might sound like. As you watch, consider these questions:
What does the coach do to build collaborative partnerships with the coachee team?
How does this example match your thinking about sharing data? About reflective conversations?
What might you do differently in your coaching sessions?
CEM Coaches who have already attended the full CEM Checklist training and would like a refresher on preparing, observing and scoring the tool may find this one-hour webinar helpful. This is not a replacement for CEM Checklist Training, which offers time for questions, practice and further explanation of each key practice area.
The CEM Checklist, rev 2022, is not available online. Contact your PDF if you need a copy.
