Below you will find a link for each Career Pathway Plan of Studies for the Health and Human Services Career Center.

The Plan of Studies can serve as a guide, along with other career planning materials, as learners continue on a career path. Courses listed within this plan are only recommended coursework and should be individualized to meet each learner’s educational and career goals.

Teaches basic care skills with emphasis on physical, social, emotional, and spiritual needs of patients. Covers procedures, communications and interpersonal relations; observation, charting and reporting; care planning, safety and infection control; anatomy and physiology, nutrition and patient feeding; ethics, death and dying. Prepares multi-skilled health care workers to care for patients of various ages with special emphasis on geriatric nursing, home health, long and short term care facilities.

Students learn what it takes to be successful in fashion by exploring careers within the industry and participate in hands-on experiences creating original products while applying design techniques and skills. Students focus on the advanced technical skills necessary for careers in the fashion industry by continuing to develop skills in illustrating, draping, pattern making, garment construction, and marketing. Students explore opportunities for work-based learning and entrepreneurship within the fashion industry.

The Teachers for Tomorrow program is a 2-3 year program that prepares students to enter the workforce upon graduation and/or continue training through post-secondary education programs at the associate’s, baccalaureate, masters, or doctorial level. This program fosters student interest, understanding, and appreciation of the teaching profession and allows secondary students to explore careers in education. Students will build a strong foundation for teaching, learn the history, structure, and governance of teaching; apply professional teaching techniques in the VTfT classroom; and reflect on their teaching experiences. Additional educational leadership opportunities are offered through the student organization, Educators Rising. During Level 2 students continue to explore careers in education as they research postsecondary options, learn about the process of teacher certification in Virginia, and participate in a practicum experience.

The Cosmetology program provided students the opportunities to complete the required hours, curriculum, and skills to be eligible to test for licensure upon completion of a 2 year program according to VDOE & VDPOR regulations. Students will learn all basic aspects of being a Cosmetologist. This includes theory and practical experiences relating to your chosen field. Cutting, coloring, styling, chemical texturizing, manicuring, pedicuring and acrylic applications are some of the hands-on experience students will receive. Managing and owning a salon, sanitation procedures & chemistry are a few of the theoretical aspects students will learn.

The Early Childhood Education courses will prepare individuals to work with children from birth through eight in diverse learning environments. Students will combine learned theories with practice in actual settings with young children in connecting with a supervising teacher.



Physical education is the study of physical movement, safety and health and well-being. There are a wide range of activities associated with PE including sports, dance and weight training. Physical education helps develop and maintain confidence, well-being and social skills that can be more difficult to achieve through other subjects. Physical education lends itself to a range of careers in sports and fitness including nutritionists, physical therapists, chiropractors, sports science, PE teacher, physiotherapist. professional sportsperson, sports coach/consultant, diet and fitness instructor and personal trainer.
