ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCE CAREER PATHWAYS

Below you will find a link for each Career Pathway Plan of Studies for the Environmental Science Career Center.

The Plan of Studies can serve as a guide, along with other career planning materials, as learners continue on a career path. Courses listed within this plan are only recommended coursework and should be individualized to meet each learner’s educational and career goals.

The Animal Science Pathway encompasses the study of animal systems, including the areas such as life processes, health and nutrition, genetics and reproduction, herd management and processing in the areas of small animals, aquaculture, livestock, dairy, equine, and poultry. Students completing this pathway of study will demonstrate competence in the application of principles and techniques for the development, application, and management of animals science in the Agriculture, Food, and Natural Resource setting. Students in the AS Pathway are exposed to careers such as Veterinarian, Livestock Producers, Animal Scientists, Livestock Buyers, Animal Nutritionists, Livestock Geneticists, USDA Inspector, Meat Science Researcher, and Feedlot Specialist.

The Culinary Arts Pathway provides the foundation for comprehensive knowledge of the food service industry with the opportunities to build technical skills.Students examine basic rules of kitchen safety and sanitation, of purchasing and receiving, and of fundamental nutrition. The curriculum incorporates math and science in culinary applications.



The Natural Resource Pathway encompasses the study of the management, protection, enhancement and improvement of sil, water, wildlife, forests and air as natural resources. Students completing this pathway of study will demonstrate competence in the application of principles and techniques for the development, application, and management of natural resources in the Agriculture, Food, and Natural Resource setting. Students in the AS Pathway are exposed to careers such as Aquaculturists, Ranger Conservationists, Rangeland Scientists, Timber Manager, Trapper, Logging Operations Inspector, Natural Resource Scientists, Park Managers, Water Resources Manager, Wildlife Manager, and Forest Rangers.

The Plant Science Pathway encompasses the study of plant life cycles, classifications, functions, structures, reproduction, media and nutrients, as well as growth and cultural practices through the study of crops, tuf grass, trees, shrubs, and/or ornamental plants. Students completing this pathway of study will demonstrate competence in the application of principles and techniques for the development, application, and management of plant science in the Agriculture, Food, and Natural Resource setting. Students in the AS Pathway are exposed to careers such as Plant Breeder, Soil and Water Specialist, Plant Pathologist, Botanist, Forest Geneticists, Greenhouse Managers, Crop Farm Managers, Floriculturist, and Agronomists.
