This college-level course is an alternative to 9th Grade world history allowing students to study the cultural, economic, political, and social developments that have shaped the world from c. 1200 CE to the present analyzing texts, visual sources, and other historical evidence and writing essays expressing historical arguments. The course focuses on these historical periods:
1200-1450 | Nations and Regions before Columbus
1200-1450 | Trade Networks and Exchange before Columbus
1450-1750 | Land-Based Empires and their Development
1450-1750 | Trans-Oceanic Connections after Columbus and Overseas Colonies
1750-1900 | The Enlightenment, Revolutions, and Industrialization
1750-1900 | The Consequences of Industrialization and Expansion of European Imperialism
1900-Present | The World Wars and the Interwar Period
1900-Present | The Cold War and Decolonization
1900-Present | Globalization and the Modern Era
The course will also prepare students to pass the Advanced Placement exam which can reward college credit
