These courses allow students to develop a portfolio, either on three-dimensional art or drawing, showing a body of their own work that visually explores a particular artistic concern, articulated and supported by a written artist's statement. Also:
For 2-D Design (Digital Portfolio) content may include drawing, painting, printmaking, mixed media, traditional photography, digital photography, and/or new media and emerging technologies that demonstrate understanding of design principles as applied to a 2-D surface.
For 3-D Design, content may include clay, wood, wire, glass, metal, jewelry, fabrics/fibers, fashion design, green design, industrial design, and/or objects for interior design or architecture that integrates 3-D design issues in a purposeful way.
For Drawing, content may include drawing, painting, printmaking, and/or mixed media that emphasizes line quality, rendering of form, composition, surface manipulation, and/or illusion of depth.
Students need to regularly reflect on aesthetics and art issues individually and as a group, and focus on expressive content that is progressively more innovative and representative of the student's artistic and cognitive growth.
