Information to Help You Get Started in Blackboard

Students new to online learning are encouraged to attend an online Blackboard orientation to review the tasks listed below. Click on a task to learn more about it. For general questions, contact Online Student Support by using our Contact Form. For login problems, please call the Help Desk at (414) 297-6541.

Task 1 -  Retrieve Your MATC Network Account Username and Password

Once your college application is processed, you will receive a message at the email address that you included with your contact information. The message will contain your MATC network account username, password, and login instructions. Non-program students typically receive the message within 75 minutes or less. MATC students use their network accounts to access the myMATC Portal, MATC Gmail, Blackboard, Self-Service, and more.

If you do not remember your password or you experience a login problem, use the Online Password Manager or contact the Help Desk at 414-297-6541. Only the Help Desk can resolve login problems.

Task 2- Log into your MATC Gmail

As soon as you receive your MATC network account, log into your MATC Gmail. This will be your primary means of communication with the college and faculty. When you are logged into your MATC Gmail, you may access free Google Apps to support your studies. See our Introduction to MATC Gmail to get started with sending messages and using Google Apps.

Task 3 - Update Your Rave Alert Contact Preferences

MATC uses the Rave Alert system to notify students in the event of an emergency and/or school closing. Log in with your MATC network account to update your desired contact methods.

Task 4 - Prepare for Learning with Technology

If you are new to online learning, we strongly recommend viewing the self-paced Online Readiness module to learn about the tools, tasks, and strategies to start your studies strong. See these instructions for more information.

If you are unfamiliar with using computers or need to boost your skills, we recommend interacting with the simulations in WISC-Online's free Basic Computer Skills Course and the tutorials on our Basic Computer Skills page.

Task 5 - Visit the MATC Bookstore Website

Because your course syllabus may not be available until the first day of class, we recommend visiting the MATC Bookstore website to see what books and supplies you may need for your classes.
