Attendance Expectations
Important Attendance Information
Regular class attendance is among the best predictors of successful course completion. MATC takes attendance for all students. If you take an online, virtual, or blended course, make sure that you are logging into the course to complete weekly activities. Your completion of weekly activities counts as your attendance!
To check your class attendance records in Self-Service, see these instructions.
More Information
Per the Student Handbook (page 39), "it is the responsibility of students to discuss absences with their instructors. When an absence occurs, students are responsible for making up any missed work".
If you are enrolled in a course that is longer than eight (8) weeks and do not participate in the first two (2) weeks, the college will drop you from the class.
If you are not able to attend in the first two (2) weeks of class and you did not contact your instructor, the college will drop you from the class. If you lose access to a course in Blackboard and have been absent for two (2) weeks, you may have been dropped. You may appeal a drop using this form.
