In Summer 2023, MATC updated Blackboard to the Ultra Course Experience. This means that all of your current courses will use Blackboard Ultra's modern, streamlined, and mobile-friendly course design.

Customizing Your Blackboard Ultra Profile
Adding a Personal Avatar Image
An avatar is an image that you can use to represent yourself on Blackboard. When you are logged into Blackboard, click on your name in the base menu to view your Blackboard Profile page. Click on the placeholder image at the top of the page to add an avatar image. The avatar that you choose should be reflective of the professional image you want to convey to others. It will be visible wherever you are active in Blackboard, such as in course discussions, journals, blogs, groups, and the grade center.
Pronouns and Name Pronunciation Tips
You may edit your Blackboard Profile to add your preferred personal pronouns and name pronunciation tips. This information is available wherever your Blackboard profile avatar appears in Blackboard. Simply click on a user’s avatar icon to view their information.
Customizing Blackboard Ultra Notifications
When editing your Blackboard Profile, you may choose what automated notifications you want to receive on the Activity Stream page and at your MATC email address.
Navigating Ultra Courses
When viewing the linked tutorials on the Blackboard Ultra Student Help Portal, you may change the language of the page through the drop-down menu at the top of the page. We suggest the following tutorials for reviewing basic Ultra Course navigation, content, and assessments.

Requesting Name Changes in Blackboard Ultra
If you need to change your first or last name in Blackboard due to marriage or other circumstances, complete the following steps:
Go to the Admissions Center at your nearest campus with a copy of your marriage, divorce, or other legal name change certificate. They will change your name in the official student information system. If you are not able to come to campus please fax us a copy of a picture ID with your new name and a copy of the marriage, divorce, or other legal name change certificate. The fax number is (414) 297-6371.
Send an email to helpdesk@matc.edu informing them of your name change. They will make sure that your name change is accurately reflected in college applications, such as Self-Service and Blackboard.
Troubleshooting Common Issues
If you experience difficulty accessing course content or experience a technology problem when completing online assessments, please contact your instructor directly for assistance.
