Ally

What is Ally?

Ally is a tool integrated with Blackboard Ultra that helps improve the accessibility of documents, images, text, and tables. Ally automatically provides students with downloadable alternative document formats for easier reading.  Ally is available in all Blackboard courses as of Fall 2024 and going forward. For questions about Blackboard Ultra and Ally, contact onlinelearning@matc.edu.

How Do I Access Ally?

When students view courses in Blackboard Ultra, students can click on the Ally symbol wherever text, image, link, and file content is present to access their choice of alternative document format, such as speech-to-text MP3 audio, machine translated language, electronic braille, beeline reader, and immersive reader. See the following links and embedded video for details.

How Can I Translate Content or Files in Another Language?

Use Ally's Translated Version alternative document format to translate on-screen text and file content within a course to over 71 languages.

Can I Transform My Own Files?

Yes! Students can access the Ally File Transformer tool through Blackboard’s Assist page to convert their own Word, PowerPoint, PDF, and HTML files to a preferred alternative format.  This tool accepts PDF, DOC, DOCX, PPT, PPTX, or HTML files for conversion.
