Lesley Burns - deserves a shout out for bringing a all the games, cards etc., for the Homecoming gaming area. She collects these games from the Extended Care program(s) at all the buildings and then picks them up and returns to the programs.
Huge Comet Shout Out to Nikki Harting for her willingness to try something new with station rotations (utilizing a new tech tool) and incorporating small group guided instruction in as a station. She is also a lead learner and initiating her own growth opportunities to continue to learn, use and share the best math instructional practices.

Barb Reichel is an amazing person. I popped into her room and she was doing a read aloud to her wonderful students who were all positioned around her listening. It was a beautiful scene, especially since the book was about a girl with special needs who proved much more intelligent than anyone ever knew.
Erin Rankin, Andy Schur, and Kristi Stephens are amazing coworkers in Honors Algebra II. I appreciate their dedication to making the course cohesive and what’s best for our kids! They are an amazing team to work with!
Tracy Brockway is a gem at MHS. She works hard to support all student and the teachers she works with. She has a heart of gold and is one amazing woman! One of the best people I have ever worked with. Thank you Tracy for all that you do!!

Shannon Branciforte - Shannon is a perfect role model for calm problem solving in stressful situations. She utilized E + R = O when we still thought it was an impossible math equation. Her above the line responses have helped throughout the years with testing. A huge “Shout Out!” to Shannon for being “the calm rock” that always keeps us cool during stressful situations.

Walk-Through Forms: We have begun using our updated walk-through form. You may receive a PDF attachment (via email) with feedback from a walk-through. In addition to the PDF feedback, we are also collecting data in different areas: formative assessments, summative assessments, collaboration, instructional delivery, student engagement, feedback provided to students, and classroom environment. We will share data from the walk-through for each 9 weeks. The form will help us see what we do well throughout the building and also show us any opportunities we have for growth. We see new practices everyday and continue to add to the form. Here is an example of what the form looks like. If you have any questions, please contact Mr. Dodd or Ms. Jordan.

Supporting Students in the Classroom
When students have anxiety and depression that goes unnoticed their mental health is at risk, which can lead to social and behavioral problems, poor performance, poor self care practices and low self esteem. Find out more about classroom strategies to help students manage anxiety. You can also take the Anxiety Quiz yourself to find out if the symptoms you are experiencing might be more problematic than “everyday stress,” as well as resources to mental health professionals.
Staff Training Opportunities
Learn at Lunch opportunities regarding mental health topics will be offered the following dates: 10/23 during lunch A,11/13 during lunch B, 12/3 during lunch C. The MHS School Counseling Department is excited to announce a wonderful opportunity this fall to help students and parents complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). A completed FAFSA determines a student's eligibility for need-based financial aid and is an important step in the college process for students. The financial aid department at Miami University has graciously agreed to bring members of their staff to Mason High School to work with individual families to complete the FAFSA. Parents and students will be offered one hour appointments to come into the Harvard Room and complete the FAFSA with the support of a Miami University staff member.
The FAFSA workshop will be by APPOINTMENT ONLY. Dates for the workshop are Tuesday, October 22nd, Thursday, October 24th and Thursday, November 14th. The first appointment of the day will begin at 4:00 PM and the last appointment of the day will be 7:00 PM. Please follow the below link to schedule an appointment.
