As we continue to examine Safety practices at MHS, we will be having tourniquet training for the building during the week of December 9th-13th from 7:05 am to 7:35 am. Mason Fire in collaboration with Mason PD will be running the training with support from the school nurses. We have divided up by departments, so please report to the Harvard room on your designated day. We are doing it by Department (as opposed to by Pods), to still allow for two days of department collaboration time for the week. The American Red Cross website provides excellent information if you are interested in additional resources. We will cover many of these aspects during the training.

As we begin to present the R-Factor System to the students, we encourage you to participate in the journey, begin to use the system in your personal lives, and share your experience with your students. The next Connect Time dedicated to student R-Factor training is January 22.
Inclusive Excellence Team: As we talk more about the E +R=0, we hope that you will continue to Step up to Bias, and use the R to Educate! We continue to work to use our responses to teach others about how words matter, and to take responsibility for the impact that words have.
Personalized Learning Team:
As the semester winds down, consider creating space for students to sketch concept maps. A concept map/mind map supports learning by boosting voice, co creation, social construction, and self discovery.
Voice: All students have room to voice their ideas about the concept.
Co-creation: Teacher and students can use the map to gauge understanding and make decisions about what needs more focus.
Social Construction: Students can build understanding by combining ideas onto one concept map.
Self Discovery: Making connections between ideas challenges depth of thinking. Students are challenged to “Aha!” learning moments in the challenge to explain connections between seemingly distinct ideas.
These can also be created through online apps such as Canva.

Freshmen are invited to Finals Countdown on December 2-5 and again on 9-12 from 2:30-3:30 in the B 2 pod. NHS students and teachers will be there to assist and help Freshman study for exams.
Sophomores interested in applying to Scarlet Oaks and did not attend the meeting, can see Sally Clark in the guidance office for more information. We will be taking a field trip January 24 for all who are interested but applications for programs are open now.
Junior College Planning Meeting will be held on December 3 at 7:00 pm in the High School Auditorium.
