“Don’t seek happiness. The happiness will happen here and there. Seek joy. And that comes from relationships, and belonging, and cause.” ---Simon Sinek

Joy is a choice. Every day, we either choose to actively help create the joy we experience in our lives, or we choose to actively work against it. Having the discipline necessary to create a culture of joy is difficult but worth it. Having the lack of discipline necessary to do nothing but complain about the lack of joy in any aspect of our lives is easy but ultimately worthless.
Which one will you choose today?
As a reminder: The next Connect Time with time dedicated to R-Factor training is Thursday, February 27th.

Inclusive Excellence Team:
Check out Hakim Oliver's connect time next Wednesday, February 5th. It is both connect time-slots. Hakim and Lorri have invited Lynn Watts here to speak; she will be in the Harvard Room. Lynn grew up in Cincinnati during the 1960s as a biracial person. She is known for her role in the development of Undivided; Undivided is a racial reconciliation program that is getting national attention. Lynn has agreed to discuss her story and her vision of ways to bring our society together. Lynn has experience speaking to public schools and I think she is a great role model. Encourage your students to sign up! Space is limited, so the sooner the better!

According to the Center for Disease Control, students who are bullied are more likely to experience low self-esteem and isolation, perform poorly in school, have few friends in school, have a negative view of school, experience physical symptoms (such as headaches, stomachaches, or problems sleeping), and to experience mental health issues (such as depression, suicidal thoughts, and anxiety).
