Year 9 Visual Arts is a way of responding to the world around you. Through artmaking we can explore our experiences, thoughts and feelings and give them a visual form.
Visual Arts students are finding that their skills learnt at school are of critical importance to their careers. In the age of information technology and mass media being able to visually communicate using a wide range of traditional as well as digital technologies are of fundamental importance.
You will learn by creating a variety of art works with different art media. This will allow students to experiment and learn new skills.
The practical work is linked to the theory to enhance overall understanding.
60% Practical and 40% Theory
In-class artwork forms the basis of the practical mark
Research tasks and exams will be reflected in the theory component
We begin with the topic of Art and Life – Examining the way art can express our thoughts and ideas. Exploring this idea with digital imaging, drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture as well as spray paint and stencil.
In year 10 we move into the Urban Landscape - Street Life and Urban Decay. Explored through perspective drawing, architectural studies and the creation of sculptural forms which reflect the world around us.
