5Cedar   Learning Update

Central idea: People with different beliefs may struggle for rights and freedoms

Cedar class have worked extremely hard this week! We have finished our first inquiry looking into rights and freedoms. Children discussed the different rights and illustrated their understandings by creating hand prints with the most important human rights. We have moved on to inquiry two researching into the infringements of rights and freedoms. The children started their inquiry by looking into how decisions are made in the UK learning about the role of parliament and the importance of democracy. Based on our book 'The Boy At The Back Of The Class' by Onjali Q. Raúf, children have been researching about Syria and next week we will start to look into important events that changed the country.

In Maths, children have been extending their number knowledge by rounding up to 10,000 this week. They have shown their understanding by solving word problems and have done amazingly to explain their approach to working it out.
