3/4Cedar Learning Update

Central idea: Literature can drive our appreciation of culture.

Welcome to Module 2. This week we have been learning about the importance of Remembrance Day. We worked in pairs to find and record a range of important facts about people in service and the British Legion. We followed the moving story of two boys, Jack and George, who grew up together in a small village in England in 1910 and went to war together. We followed their brave story of living in the trenches.

We then began to explore our new Central Idea. We did a knowledge harvest on our key vocabulary literature and culture. We discussed how literature is the use of words to express ideas, stories and information. We then looked at the word 'culture' and discussed how it is different beliefs, arts and ways of life. With this, we began our first piece of geography work. We looked at the different types of settlements that people choose to live in and the features of these settlements.

In maths we have continued our journey of adding and subtracting where exchange is necessary. We have been focusing on using the column method to support our working out.
