WB 18th March
This week was British Science Week and we spent Friday taking part in a variety of different scientific investigations. We used pens and filter paper to unmix colours and figure out what inks make up different colours. We used sugar to strengthen our bubble mixture so we could make bubbles inside of bubbles. Finally, we used the BBC Micro:Bits to make our own digital thermometers through coding and measure the temperature of different surfaces around school.Â
At the end of the day we joined up with Year 1 to share our learning and had a great time finding out what they got up to and sharing the results of our amazing investigations.Â

This week in Art we have been looking at repeated patterns. We have been learning about and studying the artwork of Larry Achiampong. We used a range of different art resources to experiment with different styles of repeated patterns. Oil pastels and colour pencils were used to create our own versions of repeated patterns, we then used paint and sponges to create a whole class repeated pattern.

This week in Maths we have been looking at the topic of Temperature. We have learnt how to read a thermometer and take accurate measurements. We took our learning outside to measure the temperatures in different areas of the school. One thing we learnt is that it was very cold this week.

Happy new Year and Welcome back! It is great to see the children again and I hope use have all enjoyed your break. In year 2 we launched our new curriculum unit 'Children around the world' by having a fun filled experience day looking at a range of different cultures from India, Japan and Brazil. We looked at how children in these cultures live, what their school day looks like, what food they eat and traditional dances from the culture. The children really enjoyed looking at life in other countries and got to indulge in some snacks from these countries and were surprised about the interesting flavours. We then looked at the dances and had a go ourselves.
