This week we held are year 2 learning showcase. We hosted a car expo showing off our cars of the future that we have been building in our DT lessons. We created posters to demonstrate the cars amazing features such as being able to fly or transform into a boat when needed. We also discussed with visitors how we would power our cars using renewable energy. We combined our learning in computing by making headlights and sirens by coding crumble kits to flash. Thank you to all the parents who attended the Expo to allow the children to showcase their hard work.

This week as part of our DT learning we have been making our cars of the future. We designed our cars incorporating the mechanism of a wheel and axel. We started by measuring our wood and marking out the correct size. After we took turns using the handsaws to cut our wood to size. Using wood glue and fasters we attached our pieces to make a chassis for the base of the car we then created our wheel and axel using the same method and attached it to our base. Next week we will continue our learning by creating the roof and overall design of the car.

This week in Art we created our final piece of work all around the concept of pollution. We have been looking at what causes pollution and have replicated this by showing a landscape that has a before and after motif. We used water colours to represent the bright world which has been unaffected by pollution and then using charcoal we represented the world ravaged by pollution using contrasting colours to add the desired effect.
