Week Beginning 23/05/2022
Wow! What an awesome week we have had in reception this week. We started off with the whole school taking part in a day of Mathematics. We had a parade of us dressed up in relation to numbers. we carried out an investigation concerning the outdoor playground as we tried to measure the length and breathe of it using our feet as a non-standard form of measurement. We created a human graph around our favourite colour and represented it in different ways. We played some maths games in our classrooms and at the end of the day we listened to a maths story.
Week Beginning 23/05/2022
On the Tuesday we went to Discover and had a wonderful time exploring and solving a 'Hole in the Wall' mystery. We had to look for clues to find out which hotel guest made a hole in the wall. We were able to solve the mystery and found out that it was a monkey who did it. Below are some of the pictures showing us exploring as we tried to solve the mystery.
We have also been preparing for the Queen's Jubilee Party as well as our summer fair by making crowns and buntings.
Week Beginning 16/05/2022
This week in Reception we have been doing a lot of learning and exploring in our outdoor area, spending time with our friends ,sharing equipment and learning to build relationships. Next week we will share with you all the creative things we made. So watch this space!
Week Beginning 09/05/2022
This week our focus was on naming the parts of a plant which we did very creatively. We also used our imagination to create flowers and label the differen parts. We also enjoyed using the utentils in the mud kitchen as instruments and we made different sounds with them. We are also starting to spot a few ladybirds in our outdoor area. One was black with red spots on it. The children were really suprised to see this as they said "ladybirds are red with black spots on it".
Week Beginning 02/05/2022
This was a short week but we were still able to have a week of lovely work. We started off by learing to orally retell a story using a text map and we had a go at recording it as well.
We took our learning outside again this week because of the beautiful weather . We used the opportunity to develop our knowledge of the world as well as our Gross motor skills. We had an end of Eid celebration with our friends as well.
Week Beginning 25-04-22
This week we have been learning about 'Understanding Our world' .We have been focussing on Ramadan and Eid which is a muslim festival. We have learnt some very interesting things and did some work to show our understanding. We drew our own Mendhi patterns,designed our own prayer mats, made Eid mobiles, made collages of mosques and wrote about the religious festival.
We also enjoyed our learning this week as we took advantage of the good weather we had and took our learning outside. Below are some of the engaging activities that we did.

The children were giving the dolls a bath after some time in the sandpit
The children were really focussed on developing their fine motor skills and worked together in small groups.
The children had a lot to say about their learning this week. " Today is such a great day we should go to the beach".
" I can now slide down the pole near the tree house".
" We like playing tennis and learning how to use a bat and ball".
The children are in the sandpit building a garage for some cars again they worked as a team during this activity.
These children were playing a game of tennis with eachother. They encouraged one another to hit the ball when thrown towards them.
The mud kitchen constantly had children creating tasty meals for the adults who were outside with them.
The children enjoyed climbing up and down the tree house. These girls posed for a picture with a big smile on teir faces.
These boys enjoyed playing a game of hide and seek . They decides to pose as superheroes beneath the tree house.
Week Beginning 19-04-22
This week we have resumed back to school with a focus on nature. We began by looking at vegetables and we made vegetable soup. We also engaged with printing using some vegetables. We also have a focus of growing so we have begun to plant some vegetables and we shall keep a diary of how they grow.
We are trying to develop our fine motor skills by cutting up different vegetables.
We really enjoyed cutting up the vegetables.We were very careful when using the knife.
The children really enjoyed the experience of chopping up the vegetables and seeing the final product. They tried the soup and commented that " it tastes nice".
We also tasted the soup after we had finished making it. Many of us were suprised that we actually liked the taste of the soup.
We put a flower together independently and then labelled its different parts.
We used magnifying glasses to explore in our outdoor area. We identified a range of plants and flowers and even spotted some bees.
The children have been excited to use the mud kitchen this week. They made a range of food items for a birthday party for one of the teachers.
Using soil, flowers, pots and small trowels we created our own mini garden.
We all had a go at planting our own seeds. we cannot wait to observe how they grow.
We made great patterns and other vegetables using the leftover bits of vegetables from our soup.
We drew different vegetables and fruits on paper to show our understanding of where they grow.
