To conclude this amazing Spring Term, Year 3 invited their parents over to celebrate and showacase what they've learnt!
Over the past few weeks, Year 3 have been learning all about Volume and Capacity in Maths. Children learnt to measure volume using millilitres and litres. They also came across various problem-solving questions on volume and capacity.
This lesson Year 3 investigated what shadows are and why they are formed. Children shared their ideas about how objects could be tested to determine whether or not they made a shadow. They then explored the way shadows are created and they went on a shadow hunt around the school.
Friday 3rd March was World Book Day! The children had a lot of fun throughout the day. It started off with the children showcasing their outfit in a school parade, followed by a range of WBD activities!
Year 3 have been learning how to use the Crumble kits, they are learning how to write more precise algorithms for use when programming and how to use simple selection and repetition in algorithms.
This week, Year 3 were practicing their artistic techniques! They learnt how draw images using the 'shading' technique. Children practiced 5 different ways of shading. These skills will be used again in weeks to come when we complete our final piece of art work!
Year 3 had an amazing educational visit to Tower Bridge! They walked along the bridge and identified London's amazing landmarks!
They then recieved a special workshop where they learnt all about the River Thames and its uses now and back during the Victorian Era.
This week in Science, we learnt all about soil! We learnt what soil is and how many different types there. We discussed why soil is important and how soil helps plants grow.
We then put all our ideas on a mindmap to see all the information we know about soil!
This week in History we learnt all about the Industrial Revolution! We learnt what life, society and jobs were like before and after the revolution. We discussed the positive and negative effcts of the revolution.
We then used the VR headsets to have a look at Victorian Britain!
Over the last few weeks, Year 3 have been reading 'Blue Umbrella'. A story about a Blue umbrella whizzing through the streets of New York, until he finds a beautiful red umbrella. Have a watch of the video below!
The children created an emotions graph to describe how Blue was feeling at different parts of the story.
