Jovani Sahota
As Jovani enters the parking lot of Tasty Indian Bistro he sees a vivid image of the food he enjoyed the last time he was there. The rich aromas of spices and uniqueness in flavours. As he enters the sizable fancy glass doors his senses are welcomed by warm memories and scents. He enters a new world. The warm colours of red, yellow, brown and gold welcome him. The large brown doors with glass panels were as clear as a warm summer evening. The polite and courteous hostess greets him and takes him to his table. As he walks to his table he sees art and sculptures with traditional Indian art practices. His eyes dance like a joyous ballerina. The aromas of rich, mouth-watering dishes fill his nostrils. Indian music is playing at a comfortable, enjoyable level making conversation easy.
As Jovani sits down his hands feel the soft black cushion of the fabric on the chair. The waitress hands Jovani the menu. The printing is fancy and enticing. Jovani sees many familiar favorites on the menu. When he reads the menu he feels so hungry that he could eat a horse. His mouth salivates as he reads the elegant decorative menu.
Jovani and his family decide to order some tasty, mouth-watering appetizers. Jovani chooses colorful, crispy, tender vegetable pakoras and sizzling, marinated hot, red tandoori chicken made in a clay oven. The flavors of the tender tandoori chicken are zesty and infused. The waiter pours Jovani some ice-cold water. As he holds the cup he can feel the cool water outside the tall glass. Jovani can hear his stomach grumbling as he watches other tables get their food. He can see that people are happy and enjoying their meal and experience at one of his favorite restaurants.
The appetizers arrive. The smell is overwhelming and enticing. Jovani and his family dig into the colorful, crunchy, hot pakoras. Jovani dips his pakora into a cool, zesty, mint dipping sauce. The pakoras are as crispy as a chip. The first bite warms his body and soul. A true treat to enjoy. He also digs into the sizzling, seared, blackened tandoori chicken, topped with crunchy cabbage and red onions. He can hear the chicken sizzle as it is served on a hot cast iron serving dish. Alongside the chicken is a cooler, mint dipping sauce and a warm, red chutney, both of which Jovani enjoys.
After the appetizers, Jovani and his family decide on some main dishes. He cannot wait for what was ahead as he sighed in satisfaction. They usually order the same thing, although all dishes look enticing! They decide on rich, velvety, creamy butter chicken, some spicy, crunchy okra, and warm bright green blended spinach saag with grilled tofu. When Jovani sees the waiter bringing the food he is on cloud nine.
The main dishes arrive and everyone is pleased. The tofu is as fluffy as the clouds. Alongside it Jovani enjoys crunchy, buttery garlic naans and warm, soft basmati rice with crunchy peas. The harmonious combination of coriander, cloves, cardamom, red chili powder, ginger, and garam masala is a delight. Throughout, the dishes tasted wondrous on Jovani’s palate. The spices were dancing like a kite on a windy day. The tofu melts like butter on Jovani’s tongue. The rice is perfectly cooked and filled with harmonious spices that linger on his tongue.
Jovani shares good conversation and food with his loved ones. Jovani’s palate sings with happiness and he feels blessed that he is sitting with his family, enjoying the wonderful food and atmosphere around him.
