A Winter's Story

A Winter's Story
Leonardo Yang
Winter's wrath appears,
Over horizon which it nears,
The fleeting light of summer
Once hither and yon,
Now completely gone,
Leaves us now like the year.
Winter sustains,
A cold disdain,
Of life and warmth,
Of flower and frond,
And of light, a hatred beyond.
While darkness never wanes.
Summer having us forsaken,
We live here shaken,
Afraid of the winter frost.
Until the beauty of winter snow,
Takes us all along in tow,
No effort to escape undertaken.
So as we play,
Every single day,
Frolicking within the snow,
It is agreed and verily so,
That summer's heat, a blessing faux,
Should come after a delay.
