Why did you come to VC?
So I went to a public elementary school. When I was maybe around Grade 4 or Grade 5 my dad taught at St. George’s so he took us to a Saints vs. VC basketball game, and we sat in the Saints parents section but… for some reason still chose VC and I just cheered for them the entire time.
Then after that, later that year, we went to another VC game. It was Saints vs. VC - at VC - and I still cheered for VC for some reason. Then later I had a family friend named Jonathan M. who went here, and then I just learned about this school, and I wanted to come. And then I came to VC in Grade 7.
That's nice. What has been your favourite year at VC?
Grade 7. We went to camp - I think Elphinstone - and it was really fun. When there are less kids in your grade it is more fun because it is less crazy and you know everyone better.
What is your favourite subject?
PE, or I'd say Computer Studies since Mr. E is very chill and class is very fun.
What is your most memorable moment at VC?
Probably winning the Grade 7 basketball championship with William Huang, because I just feel like our team was really close that year and everyone got along well.
It was really like a journey to get there because in other years of basketball we have been undefeated and everything, but in that year we lost, like, maybe around like 4 times but when it came to the finals, we won. And like we even rented out an apartment or something to have meetings.
How do you balance your grades and sports?
Well I think a lot of it is just hard work. Like you can get a lot of your grades from just doing your best and actually trying. Then with sports I think you just have to plan out your day; not plan it out, but find time for things.
So a lot of times when I wake up I have to do a lot of work if it is a day where I have a lot of stuff to do. And then I just go to school, practice and then I just go straight to work, and then if I finish early I just chill and then go to bed.
But then even my parents, instead of them telling me to do work, it's like they make me stop doing work and go to bed. They really prioritise sleep so I aim for almost 10 hours each night. I think just finding the balance between athletics, academics and sleep is just what I do.
Thank you Luc for the interview.
