An Ode to Summer Days
The days of summer are near,
Now so close and so clear,
Yet an eon of fifty something days,
We will suffer, before we go our ways,
Before the eve of summer so dear.
So cherish now, the time that remains,
Before school, the institution that detains,
Frees us to enjoy summer's blaze,
Which we will go through in a haze,
As the fear of learning, summer retains.
School you'll be in, for certainty,
So be prepared to spend the rest of eternity,
Living summers full of fear,
Or until you graduate from here,
Escaping school, and into life's uncertainty.
And as you walk away from these hallowed halls,
Where the pain of learning to all befalls,
You'll know of how depraved,
The stuff of which school is made,
And leave here warning other children of many future Falls.
