My Favourite Restaurant
Justine Legaspina
During the drive heading to McDonalds I could already smell the crispy sometimes soggy and salty fries. Then I saw the most iconic M with the color of a yellow angelic halo shining with its light radiating on everything around it. When we entered the parking lot I saw a building filled with a mixed demographic of middle aged people and people around my age. Many different clothing items, some casual and some just weird. It was like a Halloween party since there was a group of people wearing odd clothing. When I left my car I could already smell my favorite burger on the menu, the big mac, I could already see the beautiful shredded lettuce and I could smell the sauce. The different scents overwhelmed my mind making my mouth hallucinate the flavors of everything I’m about to order.
The Environment
When I entered the restaurant there were so many sounds bouncing on the walls like a trampoline, the sounds of the servers yelling out different numbers, babies crying, people talking but with the volume of screaming. When it was finally my time to shine and give out my heavenly, marvelous, delicious order, it felt like time had stopped for this moment everything that was around me stopped to listen. The words coming out of my mouth sounded like a choir singing on christmas morning, after my order time had resumed. While waiting for my order I took a seat on the high chair, it was as high as a mountain, I’m climbing it to the top to claim my territory. After hearing numbers and numbers being yelled out by the same annoying person sounding like dying animals screeching all its pain. Then I heard my number. It felt like I won the lottery waiting for the last number, it also felt like I was Charlie Bucket after he saw the golden ticket. The words that came from her mouth made everything and everyone to be quiet to hear the number “Order 57!”
The Taste
When I got my food I smelt the most iconic brown paper bag with a hint of my order of food. When I finally sat on my chair and laid the covering of my food on the table I could smell of heaven, as I opened the sealing it was like the doors of heaven opening to me. I saw the bun then the shredded lettuce, cheese, patty, bun and repeated again. It was the one and only big mac, the shredded lettuce surrounding the burger as if they were clouds surrounding an angel, as I looked at it, it was looking right back at me. It smelt like a barbeque party with hundreds of people from the patty. Then I revealed the fries, it was a mix of soggy or either crispy, you could smell the potato and salt. Finally there was one more thing left waiting for it’s big performance, it was the ten piece chicken nuggets. I had to take a bite of it right away. It felt like my whole body moved on its own, my tongue remembering the taste sending a signal to every part of my body. The chicken nuggets taste had something that stood out, it was very simple but it wasn’t too strong nor too weak of a flavor. Then everything changes when I dip it into the barbeque sauce, the feeling I felt was like if I was Remy from Ratatouille mixing the different foods making a combination that can’t be stopped. I instantly switched to the fries and grabbed 3 at the same time to have more flavor on my tastebuds, boy oh boy there was a mix of soggy and crunchy french fries that made everything better. The amount of salt was just perfect, it wasn't too salty nor too plain it was just right. Finally for the main event, I grabbed the beast of a burger, the topping falling off the side onto my hand including the sauce. Then I took a bite of such a monstrous creature, it was like biting a piece of heaven, the flavors overloaded my taste buds and it tasted so good I couldn’t explain how it tasted. I took a bite then another one repeatedly non-stop, switching to burger, fries and nuggets. I felt like I was a little kid in a toy store grabbing everything my way. By the end of this kingly meal it was so hard to stand because it felt like an elephant on my back expecting me to carry its weight. This experience was one that I will never forget, an experience that I have felt not once or twice but way too many times, and that's why McDonalds is my favourite restaurant.
