Violence, whether at a work site or work related, is defined as the threatened, attempted or actual conduct of a person that causes or is likely to cause physical or psychological injury or harm. It can include:
physical attack or aggression
threatening behaviour
verbal or written threats
domestic violence
sexual violence
Reporting Incidents of Violence
It is everyone’s responsibility to report unusual behaviour, threats, or violent acts. This helps to provide an environment free from violence.
Report a workplace violence concern
Report the concern to your immediate supervisor.
Discuss possible solutions with your supervisor.
Complete the Health and Safety Concern Report and submit form to Health, Safety and Environment (HSE).
Review and follow up led by HSE.
Report an active act of violence
The first priority is your personal safety and that of the people around you. In the event of an act of violence, call 911 immediately and then call Security Services at 780-497-5555. Provide your location and details of the situation and ensure you inform others around you if safe to do so.
