This course applies the nursing process to the care of well, acutely and chronically ill children and their families within the context of their environment. Emphasis is on anatomical, physiological, and developmental differences among neonates, infants, children, and adolescents that influence care. Theory, research, evidence-based practice, and critical thinking are foundations.
Students meet the University of Lynchburg Goals for Education by achieving the course objectives. The course objectives are derived from the Nursing Program Goals (PG), AACN BSN Essentials (Essential) and QSEN.
1. Organize and prioritize nursing care for children and families in select clinical situations.
