Stowe High School

Week in Review

“Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don’t matter, and those who matter don’t mind.” -Bernard M. Baruch

Today marks the end of our sixth week of school and today was a beautiful day to finish out a busy week. On Monday, our GSA (gay-straight alliance) student and faculty group participated in Outright Vermont’s Queerantine Virtual Fire Truck Pull. Last year our group successfully raised enough money to pull an actual fire truck on Church St. and won the Crowd Favorite Golden Fire Truck Award. This year the GSA again raised money to support Outright and the important work we need to continue to do to support our LGBTQ+ youth. The GSA put together a fantastic video of their virtual fire truck pull and we would love the community to ‘like’ their video. Please check out this page where you can view all of the video submissions. You will have to create a free account with vimeo in order to click on the heart to like our video. We thank you in advance for your support.

We also carried out one of the many senior traditions today and traveled to some select spots in Stowe to take the senior class pictures. The weather was absolutely perfect with clear blue skies and beautiful fall foliage. The seniors were fantastic and were so excited to see each other in one setting. We ended our morning together with a wonderful brunch in the courtyard of the school.

Next week will also be busy with the PSAT on Wednesday, Oct. 14th for all 10th and 11th grade students. Students will need to arrive before 8:00am in order to complete their health screening. The PSAT will be administered from 8:00am-12:00pm.

We will end next week with family-student-teacher conferences. Students will be in school all day on Thursday so we will be hosting conferences Thursday evening from 4:00-7:30pm. We are also offering conferences on Friday from 7:30am-12:00pm therefore there will be no classes on Friday for students. Scheduling for conferences opened Wednesday evening through PowerSchool so if you haven’t scheduled a conference, please check PowerSchool to do so. We encourage families to have their student present at conferences to share goals, concerns, and ask questions.
