Week in Review

“If you can’t fly, then run, if you can’t run, then walk, if you can’t walk, then crawl, but whatever you do, you have to keep moving forward.” -Martin Luther King, Jr.

The end of the first semester has arrived. Students have been working diligently this entire week to finish up coursework, take assessments, revise assignments, and bring closure to their first semester courses. It’s been a long haul but everyone stayed strong, positive, and healthy. A huge thank you to our faculty and staff for supporting our students every day.

Teachers will be finalizing their grading next week and will also be communicating with students if they need additional time to complete work or redo/revise assignments. If a student is using more time to complete work, then their mastery report may not reflect an accurate course score. Teachers will make any adjustments that are necessary once all student work has been completed and assessed. If you have any questions, please be sure to reach out to your student’s teachers.

Next week students will start brand new classes. This is a great opportunity for students to reflect on their progress during the first semester and identify what worked well and what was challenging. This reflection can assist students with how to be even more successful in the second semester. Students are encouraged to check in with their school counselors if they need assistance or support as they transition to new courses, new schedules, and a new group of peers in classes.

Snow Days will be School Days:

As the colder weather approaches and we already saw snow this week, we need to plan for the possibility of school closings due to inclement weather and unsafe road conditions. In the event we need to call for a snow day, we have developed a remote learning plan so that students can continue with their coursework. When we have a snow day, we will follow our current schedule . For example, if we need to call a snow day on a Tuesday, the students that were scheduled for in-person will have their classes remotely via Google Meet. Students who were already scheduled for a remote day will continue with the plan that was outlined by their teachers for remote learning.
