Week in Review

“Loving ourselves through the process of owning our story is the bravest thing we will ever do.” Brene Brown

January 29, 2021

January has come to an end and students have finished their second week of the second semester. Classes are lively and it’s been great to observe new classes getting started such as Humanities, History Seminar, as well as Introduction to Economics. We are also finalizing our course offerings for next year in preparation for online student registration which will be a change from previous years. In addition, we are planning for other upcoming events for the month of February with thematic weeks hosted by our environmental club, GSA, as well as planning for lessons and celebrations for Black History month. As a faculty, we are continuing with our commitment to ensure we approach everything we do with a lens of equity and ensuring we are taking steps to do this every day of the year. Next Friday during our professional development in-service day, we will again have the opportunity to have dedicated time to dig into this work as a faculty.

Lastly, we are experiencing technical difficulties with generating quarter 2/semester 1mastery reports due to the change in the schedule and semester-long classes. We encourage you to use the parental portal to review your student’s demonstration of learning and understanding for the first semester. You can also ask your student to show you their work and final course score for semester one classes.

Upcoming Events:

  • Friday, February 5: No School for all students- Teacher Professional Development

  • Monday, February 22-Tuesday, March 2: February Break

Snow Days will be School Days:

As the colder weather approaches and we already saw snow this week, we need to plan for the possibility of school closings due to inclement weather and unsafe road conditions. In the event we need to call for a snow day, we have developed a remote learning plan so that students can continue with their coursework. When we have a snow day, we will follow our current schedule . For example, if we need to call a snow day on a Tuesday, the students that were scheduled for in-person will have their classes remotely via Google Meet. Students who were already scheduled for a remote day will continue with the plan that was outlined by their teachers for remote learning.
