Go for a walk and collect some branches that would fit into a vase.
2. Gather the things you need. Branches, paper, scissors, vase and tape or string.
3. Arrange the branches in the vase.
4. Draw and cut out some "leaves".
5. Set out the Thankful Tree and the cut out "leaves" for family members to see and write messages on the leaves. Messages expressing what they are thankful for. You can use string or tape to attach the leaves to the tree.
The Thankful Tree would make a great table centerpiece. Happy Thanksgiving,

Was there a plant or animal that caught their attention? Maybe a colour they like? A beetle? Was it hard to sit still or was it relaxing? Did they find their spot comfortable? How did it make them feel? Would they try the same spot next time?

This is a quieting and calming activity. It could be a nice break after lunch or on a busy day. When sitting and focusing on listening to nature, we can develop a sense of patience, build trust and empathy, and identify feelings.
It can be done in from a patio, a yard, in the forest, or at the beach. It could even be done simply looking out a window. Players in this game are required to be in a quiet, still and be in an observant mood.
To Play, all players find their own spot in a quiet place to sit, as motionless as best as they can. The first couple of minutes will let the nature settle around them again. Players may choose to close their eyes or not as these first moments pass.
When ready, begin to look for birds, insects, the smell of the trees, the motion of the leaves, the sounds of water from their sitting spot. Players can also notice how they feel.
To close, players can share their experience.
Start with small amounts of time and build from there. Trying bring some paper and a pencil and draw. A piece of cardboard with a few pieces of paper taped on, works as an easy clipboard.
