Lets make snowflakes together with Miss Sherry and Miss Hiromi
Lets chat about how to support your child in learning to cut and create. Miss Sherry discusses the stages and strategies parents can use to support scissor skills.
This is wonderful winter craft and great for fine motor skill development. Children can learn about colours and patterns. They can also explore the textures of the yarn.
For this activity, you need cut out paper mittens, glue and yarn.
If you don't have glue you, or if you want to do this over again, simply skip the glue.
If you don't have paper to cut into a mitten, perhaps lay out a real mitten and decorate with pieces; of course skip the glue if you do.
Explore the different textures of the yarn. If is soft? Rough? Fuzzy? Try laying the pieces out in different designs over top of the paper mittens, if you like as a start.
Ask your child to put some glue on the paper and then stick on the yarn on it. You can also decorate with stickers, jewels and pom poms .
While the mittens are drying, you can read the book " The Mitten" by Jan Brett.
Materials needed:
Paper cut out, glue, cotton balls and googly eyes
Ask your child to put the glue on the paper. Stick the googly eyes and then cotton balls .
